Raja Ravi Varma

Raja Ravi Varma was a famous painter of 19th century. Born in a royal family, Raja Ravi varma started painting at the age of seven in his palace walls. Looking at his interests in paintings, his uncle Raja Raja varma gave primary lessons on painting. At the age of 14, he learnt water painting from Rama Swami Naidu, the palace painter of Ayilyam thirunal maharaja. His paintings were stunning and some of his works were mistaken to be the works of heavens. He became a world painter in 1873, after winning at the Vienna art exhibition. The milk maids, Shakuntala, lady in a flower garden are his masterpieces.
